The National Council of Nonprofits (Council of Nonprofits) announces the hiring of Vice President of Advancement Kimberly Otis and Policy Associate Jessica Mendieta, and the promotion of Amy Silver O’Leary to the new position of Director of Knowledge Sharing and Special Projects.

Kimberly (Kim) Otis joins the organization as its first Vice President of Advancement. Kim has decades of experience in both staff and board leadership roles at nonprofits dedicated to improving lives across the country and around the world. Throughout her career, she has helped advance equity and economic opportunity, including restructuring a family foundation to center participatory grantmaking. Most recently, Kim oversaw development, communications, and advocacy at Women for Afghan Women.

Jessica Mendieta

Joining the team as Policy Associate is Jessica Mendieta. Her prior work includes time with the Center for the Integration and Advancement of New Americans, the New York City Mayor’s Office of Resiliency, and the New York City Department of Education. With a background in nonprofits and government, as well as data analysis and visualization, Jessica will add to the Council of Nonprofits’ work analyzing public policies and connecting nonprofits with resources to advance their advocacy efforts.

Amy Silver O'Leary

The Council of Nonprofits also announced the promotion of Amy Silver O’Leary to Director of Knowledge Sharing and Special Projects. O’Leary recently led the production and launch of the Nonprofit Impact Matters special report and microsite. She also spearheaded a collaboration with the Federal Reserve on a survey to detail the effects of the coronavirus pandemic on nonprofits and the people they serve.

“This is the beginning of a new era for our organization,” said Tim Delaney, President & CEO of the National Council of Nonprofits. “We’re excited to expand our team and couldn’t be more pleased that Kim and Jessica are joining us at this time. Kim has done so much in the worlds of nonprofits and philanthropy. She can help take our organization and our network to a whole new level. Jessica’s knowledge of the interconnectedness of nonprofits and government, as well as her analytical experience, will advance our advocacy efforts here in Washington, D.C., in state capitals, and in town halls across the country. And Amy has long been instrumental in our efforts to connect nonprofits with trusted information and resources. We’re happy to have her in this new role expanding the resources that we make available for free so all nonprofits have equal access to the tools they need to do their work in communities. These additions and changes will significantly advance our efforts to inform, connect, and champion nonprofits nationwide.”
