In response to the announcement that MacKenzie Scott and Dan Jewett included the National Council of Nonprofits in their latest round of gifts to nonprofits, the organization released the following statement:
“Grateful for the tremendous trust that MacKenzie and Dan have in our work does not even begin to describe how we are feeling today,” said Tim Delaney, President & CEO of the National Council of Nonprofits. “Their unrestricted grant will allow us to strengthen our efforts to champion, connect, and inform nonprofits across the country.”
“Last year, when tens of millions more Americans were turning to nonprofits for help surviving the interlocking pandemic, economic, and social crises, we – with our network and collaborating partners – led advocacy initiatives that brought more than $50 billion in new federal relief funding to protect nonprofit missions and jobs so services could continue to be delivered. And tens of thousands of nonprofits turned to us for trusted information on how to access much-needed financial relief, how to be part of the effort to ensure everyone in our communities is vaccinated, and other pressing issues.
“But that vital work is not done. The crises are not yet fully behind us. The policy action in the coming months will be in the states, and our network will be there, ensuring decision-makers understand the economic and social importance of a strong nonprofit sector.”
“This grant will enable us to help nonprofits create a better future for the people and communities they serve,” added Marnie Taylor, Board Chair of the National Council of Nonprofits and President & CEO of the Oklahoma Center for Nonprofits. “Do all the good you can. That’s the power of our sector – doing good. We need a lot of that good in our communities and our country right now, and these unrestricted funds will enable us to make the most difference as we continue to help nonprofits adapt and respond to a rapidly evolving environment.”
