Senior Grant Writer

Rob joined the National Council of Nonprofits (NCN) in October 2023 as Senior Grant Writer. In this role, he supports the Resource Development team in expanding NCN’s funding opportunities. He believes nonprofits are vital to the fabric of our communities, often uplifting our most vulnerable and disproportionately affected populations. Before finding his way to the nonprofit sector, Rob started out in science, first tagging fish in Minnesota as an intern, and then working as an assistant in both chemistry and agricultural labs. For the past 13 years, he served as the Operations Director for the Long Tom Watershed Council in Eugene, Oregon, and brings wide-ranging nonprofit experience, including grant writing, administration, communication, event planning, and finance. He has a Bachelor of Science in Zoology and a Bachelor of Arts in English from North Dakota State University, and a Master of Science in Environmental Studies from the University of Oregon.

Rob resides in Oregon with his wife, Katey, and their senior dog. He loves to travel and pursue creative hobbies such as writing fiction.
