For the 5th year, nonprofits are being celebrated and recognized at the State Capitol.

More than 30 organizations joined this year.

According to the North Dakota Association of Nonprofit Organizations (NDANO), one in seven people works for a nonprofit, or more than 54,000 North Dakota workers.

“I think what’s important for North Dakotans to understand is that non-profits are really in their lives contributing to different aspects of the quality of life,” said NDANO Executive Director Dana Schaar Jahner. “So, we encourage them to reach out to their local nonprofits, volunteer, make donations and really help them build stronger communities across our state.”

Over 218,019 North Dakotans volunteer for various community events, activities and needs.

That ranks North Dakota 11th among all states in volunteerism.
