House Resolution 25

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE MISSISSIPPI CENTER FOR NONPROFITS FOR ITS EXCELLENT WORK PROVIDING TRAINING AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT TO MISSISSIPPI'S NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS.

WHEREAS, the Mississippi Center for Nonprofits is the statewide training resource and professional development organization for nonprofits throughout Mississippi and is also the designated membership association for nonprofit organizations; and

WHEREAS, the Center's mission is to strengthen the capacity of nonprofit organizations to accomplish their missions and improve the quality of life of Mississippi residents and communities; and

WHEREAS, while based in Jackson, the Center conducts in-person training workshops throughout the state that are based on the best practices of nonprofit management excellence; and

WHEREAS, in addition to training workshops, the Center partners with nonprofit, corporate and government agencies to present community forums, webinars and conferences, including Positioned for Progress, a joint annual conference that convenes Mississippi's social service sectors for continuing education and networking opportunities; and

WHEREAS, under the current leadership of Executive Director Ms. Sherry Rainey, and its governing board of directors chaired by Ms. Wendy Mullins, the Mississippi Center for Nonprofits will celebrate its 25th year of continuous service this year; and

WHEREAS, since its founding in 1992, the Center has trained more than 8,000 nonprofit professionals to more efficiently and effectively serve members of their communities; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize the great institutions of our state, such as the Mississippi Center for Nonprofits, whose dedication to providing excellent training to the state's nonprofit organizations helps to ensure that they can provide the best service to our citizens:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend the Mississippi Center for Nonprofits for its great work in providing training and professional development to Mississippi's nonprofit organizations.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the Mississippi Center for Nonprofits and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
