Politicizing Nonprofits: What Charitable Nonprofits and Foundations Need to Know (and What They Can Do About It)

This webinar will provide background on the law that protects 501(c)(3) organizations from demands for political endorsements and campaign contributions (known as the Johnson Amendment), address why most nonprofits consider nonpartisanship essential to advancing mission, review administration and legislative challenges, and identify how the issue relates to tax reform and federal spending priorities. These issues would include tax form and federal spending and perhaps the American Health Care Act, depending on what happens between now and then. Additionally, we will hit on what nonprofits can do and speak on (lobbying and advocacy) under the current law and Johnson Amendment.
