Every legislative session is a time for nonprofits to show up, build relationships, and use our voices as a powerful catalyst for change. Historically, MCN’s Session Lineup has been held in Saint Paul and focused on the legislative leaders from each caucus. This year presents the exciting opportunity to focus on Greater Minnesota, in a virtual venue so that nonprofit leaders from all over the state can participate. Nonprofits in Greater Minnesota will be able to connect directly with legislators who represent areas outside of the Twin Cities.

Session Lineup is a not-to-be-missed event where nonprofits hear directly from the Governor’s office and legislative caucus leaders as they share their priorities for the upcoming session, identify issues they think will dominate the debate, and hear from you about issues of interest to the nonprofit sector. There is time for participants to ask questions of the legislators, so come ready to unmute when called on or put a question in writing in the chat!

Confirmed speakers include:

  • Senate Energy Finance and Policy Chair David Senjem, confirmed
  • Senate Minority Whip Kent Eken, confirmed
  • House Select Committee on Racial Justice Vice Chair Lisa Demuth, confirmed
  • House Majority Whip Liz Olson, confirmed
  • Governor Tim Walz and Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan, confirmed

Session Lineup also features the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits and Minnesota Budget Project public policy teams, sharing why right now it is an imperative for nonprofits to work together, to share the stories and experiences of people and communities across the state, and to educate decision-makers on why they must continue to fund the indispensable work we all do in our communities.

In 2021, Minnesota policymakers must take action to respond to the worst pandemic of our lifetime, a crippling economic crisis, and long overdue awakening on racial inequality. We’ll also talk about how nonprofits can be united against harmful budget cuts and make the case for raising the revenues needed to fund crucial public investments.

Session Lineup is hosted in partnership with Minnesota Council on Foundations. Join us as we share in the opportunity to connect with lawmakers at the beginning of the upcoming legislative session.
