We need your voice! No Images? Click here Should the State Auditor Decide if Your Board Needs Training? S.B. 26 Governmental Nonprofit Corporation Act Amendments requires board members of governmental nonprofits to attend a financial training within six months of their joining a board. Under this legislation, board members who fail to attend the training would be eliminated from their board service. Additionally, under this legislation, the State Auditor can choose "other entities" including nonprofits (charter schools, nonprofits with receipts above $25K, community reinvestment agencies, health departments, school districts, etc.) to complete the training. UNA opposes S.B. 26, as written, because there are too many unknowns with this legislation! Follow these steps to voice your opposition to S.B. 26: Step 1: Call your Senator and your Representative (find them here) and tell them you are opposed to S.B. 26 Governmental Nonprofit Corporation Act Amendments. Step 2: Call the bill sponsors Senator Deidre Henderson (801-538-1035) and Representative Craig Hall (801-573-1774) and tell them you oppose S.B. 26 Governmental Nonprofit Corporation Act Amendments and that you have already called your Senator and Representative. Step 3: Pass this along to your colleagues, board members, friends, family, or anyone you know who is a board member of a nonprofit and ask them to call their Senator and Representative. There are too many questions with this bill. Please raise the following concerns with your legislators as well as with Senator Henderson and Representative Hall:
