Connecticut’s largest private nonprofit association named a top employee in Gov. Dannel P. Malloy’s administration as its first president and CEO.

After a nationwide search, the CT Community Nonprofit Alliance Board of Directors named Gian-Carl Casa, who is currently undersecretary for legislative affairs at the Office of Policy and Management, as its new president and CEO.

The CT Community Nonprofit Alliance was created in January when the Connecticut Association of Nonprofits and the Connecticut Community Providers Association merged.

Casa joined the Malloy administration in 2011. His work focused on the state budget and bond package. He was also the agency spokesman. Casa, who has played more of a behind-the-scenes role, will take over as president and CEO of the organization on July 28.
