Salvation Army makes urgent plea for donations

Printer-friendly version

Nationally, nonprofits are concerned there may be a repeat of 2018, when individual giving dropped by $3 billion, largely because of the 2017 federal tax law that eliminated the charitable contribution tax deduction, mostly for middle-income donors, said Jim Klocke, CEO of the Massachusetts Nonprofit Network.

“A lot of people underestimate the impact of their donations,” Klocke said. “On average, the total dollars nonprofits receive from individuals is three times greater than the funds they receive from foundations and corporations combined.”
