Nonprofit organizations under strain as demand for services increases

Before the pandemic, the Salvation Army in McAllen served about 250 meals a day, according to Lt. Adolph Aguirre of the Salvation Army. At the height of the pandemic, that number hit 1,500 meals.
Nonprofits are starting to feel the financial strain, said Tiffany Gourley Carter, policy counsel for the National Council of Nonprofits.
