Michigan Nonprofit Leader Elected to National Nonprofit Board

Washington, DC – The National Council of Nonprofits (Council of Nonprofits) announced the election of Donna Murray-Brown, President and CEO of the Michigan Nonprofit Association (MNA), to its Board of Directors.

“Donna’s leadership during one of the most challenging times for nonprofits in Michigan, and Detroit in particular, has been nothing short of remarkable. We look forward to the insights and inspiration she will bring to the national board.” said Kyle Caldwell, Executive Director of the Dorothy A. Johnson Center for Philanthropy at Grand Valley State University and Chair of the National Council of Nonprofits Board of Directors.

Tim Delaney, President and CEO of the National Council of Nonprofits, said of Murray-Brown’s election, “Donna’s leadership in Michigan is exemplary, and her experience in building new collaborative efforts will be invaluable to strengthening the capacity of our organization and the nonprofit community across America.”

Donna Murray-BrownPrior to being named President and CEO in 2013, Murray-Brown served as Director of the Metro Detroit Partnership Office and Senior Director of Capacity Building for MNA. In this dual role, she led a successful strategic alliance program for arts and culture organizations in Metro Detroit; led the merger negotiations of four organizations to create the Belle Isle Park Conservancy; and attracted national program partnerships and investment to the region including New York-based National Urban Fellows and Wisconsin-based Public Allies.

Murray-Brown also serves on the Board of Trustees for Detroit Public Television and is a state commissioner for the Michigan Office of Services to the Aging.
