Tish Mogan, standards for excellence director of the Pennsylvania Association of Nonprofit Organizations, said a number of aspects could discourage an executive director or board of directors from investing in an efficiency retrofit.

“It could be awareness, it could be the time needed to locate the best folks to do this in terms of taking the time to investigate,” she said. “It could be coming up with the funding to do it.”

Just learning of the SEF financing option last week, Ms. Mogan said many of her members share a “common passion” of setting environmental goals and would be interested in working with the fund. 

“It’s something we would value highly,” she said. “Nonprofits would be very grateful to have a resource that can support them.”
