Grassley Promises EO Oversight If He Chairs Finance Committee

Printer-friendly version

David L. Thompson of the National Council of Nonprofits told Tax Notes that because Congress has underfunded the IRS and hindered its investigations of tax abuses, exempt organizations should welcome Finance Committee oversight if it rids the sector of “bad actors.”

“Senator Grassley has a good understanding of the charitable nonprofit sector, he shares our commitment to accountability and transparency, he works well with others, and knows how to get things done,” Thompson said. “A stronger nonprofit sector and stronger communities are in everyone’s best interest; oversight that helps make those possible is a good thing.”
