Connecticut nonprofit alliance seeks change in way state provides services

Printer-friendly version

Alice Forrester, CEO of New Haven-based Clifford Beers Clinic; Pat Bourne, executive director of Sarah Inc.; and Gian-Carl Casa, president and CEO of the CT Community Nonprofit Alliance said Connecticut should actually be putting more money into groups such as theirs.

...

Casa said private nonprofit groups like Forrester’s and Bourne’s can help the state get out from under its own budget problems by providing critical social services — in some cases at half of what it would cost for a state agency to do it.

“The budget pressures on nonprofits are significant,” Casa said. “At the same time, they provide a solution for the state.”
