Some national reports say there will be widespread turnover and a leadership shortage in the sector.
“Over the last 10 years, there’s been major progress,” said Jon Pratt, executive director of the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits. “There’s no economic reason it should be less [than government wages].”
The Revenue Department's decision is welcome news to charities, said Taylor Putz, a public policy advocate at the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits.
Outside of government, private organizations such as the Minnesota Council on Foundations and the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits are organizing under the Minnesota Census Mobilization Partnership.
Still, revenues have declined — at the Greater Twin Cities agency and across the country.
And Jon Pratt is not predicting a turnaround.
But it remains to be seen just how influential the vice president's message will be.

Nonprofits and foundations didn’t ask for this change. It was something proposed by a very small number of religious leaders.
