Nearly 18,000 corporate, civic, and charity partners have registered to participate in Giving Tuesday, launched in 2012 by the United Nations Foundation and the 92nd Street Y, in New York City.
"There's a misconception among the public that non-profits no longer are in such a critical state," said Gene D'Adamo, president and chief executive officer of the Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust.
And David Heinen, the vice president for public policy and advocacy at the N.C. Center for Nonprofits, said nonprofits have other revenue sources, including direct contributions, that weren’t considered in the report.
