Gov. Bentley proclaims November Nonprofit Awareness Month

Alabama Association of NonprofitsGov. Robert Bentley has proclaimed November as Nonprofit Awareness Month, celebrating the economic, cultural and community impact of Alabama's nonprofit sector.

Alabama's nonprofit sector is comprised of more than 21,000 charitable organizations employing more than 227,000 Alabamians. The mission of the Alabama Association of Nonprofits during the month of November is to celebrate these organizations while recognizing those who impact their communities through volunteerism.

"Alabama's nonprofit sector is an integral component to our state's economic, cultural and educational success. Hundreds of thousands of Alabamians give their time, talent, energy and hard-earned money to charitable organizations every day to ensure that our communities have the services and support that so many Alabamians rely on," said Alabama Association of Nonprofits president/CEO John Stone.
