Which doesn't surprise veteran observers. "Nonprofit organizations are nimble and responsive to the changes in Colorado's economic environment," says Sharon Knight, vice president and chief operating officer of the Colorado Nonprofit Association. "Knowing that there is some donor fatigue with traditional or formal fundraising dinners, they have engaged donors and fueled funding by creating innovative events and other opportunities for giving."
Organizations choosing to stick with the status quo are the ones likely to be left in the dust. Renny Fagan, president and chief executive of the Colorado Nonprofit Association, predicts more of them will be putting in the extra effort. "Nonprofits are used to finding creative solutions and making dollars stretch," he said.
