Customize a Letter to your employees

  • Send your employees a customized letter informing them about how they can be prepared for flu season and your expectations that they will stay home if they are sick.
  • Send an e-mail encouraging employees to stay home if they are sick and giving them instructions on how to protect themselves from getting the flu.
  • If your letter is telling employees about an outbreak among co-workers, remind employees that if they believe they have been exposed to a sick co-worker they should monitor themselves for symptoms of influenza-like illness and stay home if they are sick.
  • Attach a copy of your nonprofit’s sick leave policy or family leave policy or any special policy that addresses absenteeism during flu season.
