Get Involved

The National Council of Nonprofits is a member driven organization. We invite you to get involved and help build the strength of our network. Appointments to standing committees of the Board are made by the Chair of those Committees, however, advisory committees and affinity groups are open to all State Association staff members. Please contact the National Council staff below if you are interested in joining any of the following advisory committees or affinity groups:

  • Communications and Marketing Affinity Group - The Communications and Marketing Affinity Group presents an opportunity for State Association staff with responsibility for marketing to members, communications and even development, to network, learn from one another, and review and share ideas and experiences with online and offline communications and marketing. The Communications and Marketing Affinity Group convenes by conference call on a quarterly basis or as frequently as needed. Staff Contact: Sara Koslow.
  • Database Collaboration Task Force - The Database Collaboration Task Force is a group of interested State Association staff working toward a potential common database framework that can be used as a starting point for any State Association building a member database. The group is also examining the common needs of State Associations around e-communications, e-advocacy, surveys, event registration, and other functions to determine the feasibility of establishing a common platform with these tools. The Task Force will meet regularly on a schedule to be determined. Staff Contact: Rick Cohen.
  • Public Policy Forum - The Public Policy Forum is the National Council’s link to local policy priorities and helps spot national trends and track new issues as they arise across the states. The Public Policy Forum convenes by conference call monthly. Staff Contact: David Thompson.
  • Programs and Services Advisory Committee - The Programs and Services Advisory Group directs the National Council on which programs and services to offer our members and helps spot trends, identify needs and recommends new ways that the National Council can provide services to benefit the network. The Programs and Services Advisory Committee convenes by conference call on the second Thursday of the month. Staff Contact: Jennifer Chandler.
  • Shared Webinar Subcommittee - The Shared Webinar Subcommittee reviews proposals for educational webinars that will be hosted by one or more State Association Members but shared across the network. The Shared Webinar Subcommittee convenes by conference call on the third Tuesday of the month. Staff Contact: Rick Cohen.

Network Calls and Webinars: Join us as we discuss topics of interest to the network and the sector. Network Calls are generally on the third Thursday of every month at 3:30 pm Eastern. Subscribers to Nonprofit Network Matters will receive announcements about these calls. Most Network Calls are free and for staff of State Association Members only. Past topics have included changes to the Form 990, strategies for membership recruitment and retention, branding, choosing a database, and many more membership-related issues.
